Currently, there are 18 faculties including 5 full professors, 9 associate professors and 4 assistant professors with 6 Ph.D advisors. There are 2 post doctors, 47 Ph.D students and 65 master students.

Near 50 projects are being undertaken. Each year, the institute publishes about 100 papers in refereed journals or conferences. Besides, the institute provides 20 courses for the undergraduate and graduate students of DSCT.

Lizhu ZHOU

Lizhu Zhou is a full Professor and the Chairman of Academic Committee of the School of Information Science and Technology of Tsinghua University. Professor Zhou received his Master of Science degree in Computer Science from University of Toronto in 1983. His major research interests include database systems, digital resource management, web data processing, and information systems. Since 1980¡¯s, Professor Zhou has completed over 20 R & D projects funded by the Natural Science Foundation of China, China¡¯s High-Tech Programs, industries and international organizations He has published over 100 papers in journals and conferences and served as program committee member, program committee chair, and conference chair for many international conferences such as VLDB, ICDE, SIGMOD, PAKDD, DASFAA, WAIM, APWEB, IEEE WIC, ICSE, ER Conference, and ICADL etc

Jianhua Feng

Jianhua Feng received his B.S., M.S. and PhD degrees in Computer Science and Technology from Tsinghua University. Professor Feng is currently working as a faculty of Department Computer Science and Technology in Tsinghua University. He is an IEEE/ACM member and a senior member of china computer federation (CCF). His main research interests are in native XML database, Flash-based Database System, Keyword Search over All Data, Data Privacy and Data Security. Jianyong Wang

Jianyong Wang received the PhD degree in computer science in 1999 from the Institute of Computing Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is currently an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Previously, he ever worked as an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Peking University, and visited the School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the Digital Technology Center and Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. He is a recipient of the program for new century excellent talents in University in 2007, State Education Ministry of China, a senior member of the IEEE Computer Society, and a member of the ACM SIGKDD. He served ACM SIGMOD 2007 conference as the local demo chair, is now serving or has ever served as a PC member for most major data mining/database conferences (e.g., ACM SIGKDD, VLDB, IEEE ICDE, IEEE ICDM, SIAM SDM, ECML and PKDD), and has been a reviewer for some leading international journals (e.g., ACM TKDD, IEEE TKDE, DMKD, IEEE TFS, IEEE SMBC).

FENG, Ling

FENG, Ling is the professor of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University in China. Her research interests include context-aware data management towards Ambient Intelligence, knowledge-based information systems, data mining and warehousing, distributed object-oriented database management systems, etc., and has published over 120 papers in international and national journals and conferences. She serves as the Asian editor of the International Journal of Informatica, associate editor of the International Journal of Data Warehousing and Mining, on the editorial board of the International Journal of Neuroscience Methods£¬and the International Journal of Data Analysis Techniques and Strategies. She received the 2004 innovational VIDI Award by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research, 2006 Chinese ChangJiang Professorship Award by the Ministry of Education and Li Jiacheng Foundation, and 2006 Tsinghua Hundred-Talents Award.

Juanzi Li

Dr. Juanzi Li is an associate professor at Tsinghua University. She obtained her Ph.D degree from Tsinghua University in 2000 and finished her research work as a postdoctoral at the department of electronic engineering in Tsinghua in 2001. Now, she is the vice director of institute of software at the department. Her main research interests include Semantic Web and Web Service, text mining and knowledge discovery. She is in charge of and takes part in many projects supported by natural science foundation of China, national basic science research program and international cooperation projects (60443002, 90604025, 60703059, 2007CB31080). She has published many papers in some important international conferences and journals such as SIGIR, ISWC, SIGKDD, CIKM, JCWS, JoDS, JoWS and TKDE. Bin Xu

Dr. Bin Xu is an associate professor of Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He started to study in the department of computer science and technology of Tsinghua University from 1991, and got his bachelor, master and Ph.D degree. His research interests include Web Service, Semantic Web, Java Technology, Sensor Networking. He has published papers in international conferences and journals like JCST, ICWS, ICPP, CEC. He was the poster chair of WWW2008, and acted as PC member or organizing member of many international conferences£¨SOSE2005, ASWC2006, GCC 2006£¬MSN2006, CODS2007£¬ICWE2008£©. He won the ¡°First Place Team¡± in Web Services Challenge, in the 2006 IEEE Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC 2006), CEC2007 and CEC2008. He is the winner of Beijing's scientific and technological progress second prize in 2001, winner of Citibank teaching scholarship in 2008, winner of excellent teaching award (second level) of Tsinghua in 2008, the excellent supervisor of SRT (Student Research Training) project of Tsinghua in 2008. He co-authored three national standard documents. He is the PI of the China Natural Science Foundation project¡ª¡°Dynamic 3D tracking and monitoring in body sensor net based on doppler effect (year 2009-2011, RMB 200,000)¡±, Co-PI of The National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program)¡ª¡°Software Product Line for Data Processing (year 2007-2010, RMB 6,400,000)¡±, PI of research project funded by Tsinghua University¡ª¡°Semantic Web Service Discovery and Composition in SOA. Tang, Jie

Male, an assistant professor in Department of Computer Science and Technology of Tsinghua University. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science of Tsinghua University in 2006. He became ACM Professional member in 2006 and IEEE member in 2007. His research interests include text mining and Semantic Web. He proposes multiple semantic annotation methods, i.e. iASA: rule learning based annotation, classification based annotation, and TCRF: tree-structured CRF based annotation; as well as RiMOM: a risk minimization framework for ontology mapping, which participated into OAEI contest in 2006-2007 and obtained the first place and the third place respectively. He was awarded the best employee of Department of Computer Science and Technology of Tsinghua University in 2007, the Best PhD Thesis Award of Tsinghua University, and was nominated as candidates for the 2006 Best PhD Thesis Award of China Computer Federation. He published more than fifty papers at international journals and conferences, including JWS and JoDS and top conferences: SIGKDD, ACL, WWW, ISWC, ICDM, CIKM, etc. He applied for six patents and is the first author of three of them. He also served as Chair of WWW-SWSM¡¯08, Registration Chair of ASWC¡¯06, and PC member of more than twenty international conferences. In addition, he is the reviewer of a dozen of international journals such as TKDE, PRL, SMC, and JWE.

Bian Jinian

Since graduate from Department of Automatic Control (former of Department of Computer Science and Technology) of Tsinghua University in the March of 1970, he has been a teacher of the department at work on teaching and research, and now he is a full professor of Tsinghua University. From Jun. 1985 to Jun. 1986, he was a visiting scholar of Kyoto University, Japan, and later he also visited Chinese University of Hong Kong, Kyushu University of Japan, University of California at Los Angeles, National University of Singapore, Imperial College London, University of Verona, etc. The later of 1980¡¯s and 1990¡¯s, he joined some National Key Projects, including the project PANDA system, in which he charged the logic- and switch-level simulation tool. That system got the national science and technology award (the first class) and several ministry awards, and he got 2 honor certificates from The National Electronic Ministry. Since year 2000, the completed and ongoing projects include several projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), Hi-Tech Research and Development Program of China (863 Program) and so on. He also got The Second Grade Beijing Teaching Achievement Award in 2001, and his book (co-writer) got The 4th National Book Award candidate and The 1st National Science and Technology Progress Award for Science and Technology Books in 1999.

Cai Yici

Cai Yici received B.S degree in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 1983, received M.S. degree in Computer Science and Technology from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 1986, and received Ph.D in Computer Science, University of Science & Technology of China, Hefei, China, in 2007.

She has been a professor in the Department of Computer Science & Technology, Tsinghua University, director of the Institute of Computer Software and Theory in the Computer Science Department at Tsinghua University.

She received Science & Technology Achievement Award from Electronics Industry Ministry of China in 1997, received Science & Technology Achievement Awards from Ministry of Education of China in 1995, and received National Education Committee Natural Science Achievement Award in 2005. She is the Member of IEEE, the Senior Member Chinese Institute of Electronics and the Senior Member Chinese Institute of Computer.

Currently, she is directing 7 Ph. D. students together with a professor and more than 4 M. S. students working in the area. She has led and taken part in over 20 research projects funded by NSF, National High Tech. Program, Key Foundation Research Program, Five-Year-Program, and various industrial sponsors in these areas. She has authored and co-authored over 100 papers and 2 books around her research area.

Sheqin Dong

Sheqin Dong is an Associate Professor of the department of computer science and technology of Tsinghua University. He has published about 120 journal and conference papers and get 7 patents. He got First level award of Science & Technology progress of Ministry of Aerospace of P.R.China in 1986, and First level award of Science & Technology progress of Ministry of Aerospace of P.R.China in 1996. In 2002 He got Feng Lin Special award for postgraduate education in Tsinghua University. He got 2006 Second level award of Nature Science Research of Ministry of Education of China and 2007 award of Science & Technology progress of Beijing City.

He is a visiting professor of Waseda University, visiting associate researcher of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, visiting scholar of The City University Of Kitakyushu. He also worked as program co-chair and program committee members of several conferences. He is the principle investigator of many projects, such as NSFC projects,joint project of Hong Kong and NSFC, 863 High-tech project and many international cooperation projects with Synopsys, Intel, Seiko, Jedat etc. He also work as group leader of several 863 high-tech projects and one 973 project, and several key NSFC project and international cooperation key projects of NSFC.

Yuchun Ma

Yuchun Ma received her doctoral degree with honors at Tsinghua University in the summer of 2004, and continued her research as a postal Dr. in Tsinghua University till the summer of 2006. Currently, she is an assistant professor in Tsinghua University. In 2005, she worked as a visiting scholar in UCLA for a year. Her research interests are mainly physical design for VLSI, especially floorplanning algorithm. She has published about 30 papers including the papers on IEEE Trans. On CAD, ACM Trans. On DAES. and some papers are published in the top conferences such as Design Automation Conference£¬International Symposium on Physical Design and International Conference on Computer-Aided Design.

SUN Yan-kui

Yan-Kui Sun received the B.S. and M.S. degree in Mathematics from Henan University and Jiangxi University (the former of Nanchang University ) in 1985 and 1991, respectively. He received Ph.D. degree in Aeronautics & Astronautics Manufacturing Engineering from Beihang University in 1999. He worked at Dept. of Mathematics, Zhengzhou University, from 1987 to 1999 as a lecturer. He was at Dept. of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, from 1999 to 2001 as a postdoctoral, and has been working there as an associate professor since 2001.

He engaged in geometric modeling with wavelets, terrain visualization, 3D visualization of digital visible human, image-based modeling and rendering, et. al. Currently, he is working in wavelets and its applications, 3D face modeling with statistics model , image-based 3D shape recovery of specular surfaces, optical coherence tomography (OCT) signal and image processing and analysis, and so on.

He hosts and attends some research and development projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation, ¡°863¡± high technology research and development program, international Cooperation, an so on. He has published about 50 research papers and three books as author and co-authors. Dr. Sun received Excellent Dissertation Award from Beihang University in 2002 for his P.H. Dissertation entitled ¡°Applications of Wavelets to CAD and Volume Visualization¡±. He also received Excellent Teaching Materials Award from Tsinghua University in 2008 for his book ¡°Wavelet Analysis and its Applications¡±.

He is a reviewer of ¡°Mathematical Reviews¡± and an editorial board member of a new Online Journal entitled "Journal of Advanced Researches on Computer Science (e-ISSN: 1943-0221). He currently serves as members in Medical imaging Committee of China Society of Image and Graphics, biology information and control Committee of Chinese Society of Biotechnology, Youth Working Committee of Beijing Society of Image and Graphics, and so on. Shengyuan Wang

Born in 1964. He has been an associate professor at Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, China, since Aug. 2001. He had worked in Department of Computer Science, Lanzhou University, China, after he got his M.S.D. in computer science from Xidian University, Xi'an, China (Jan.1987). He got his B.S.D in computer science from Taiyuan University of Technology, Taiyuan, China (July 1984), and a Ph.D. in computer science from Beijing University, Beijing, China (June 2001).

The most recent research in his group is to investigate solutions to develop or produce verified concurrent programs in different language levels, especially including the machine-level codes, so that we could manage to the challenge of massive thread-level parallelism in the future architectures. We are now interested in new programming laguages or models for multi-core systems, especially those with transactional memory supporting. We care for both safety and performance of the thread-level concurrent codes. However, recently, we are paying most of our efforts to the safety.

Yuan Dong

Doctor DONG Yuan received his doctoral degree in 2001 from Tsinghua University. He gained several years of practical experience in seismic exploration data processing in the petroleum industry during his doctorate but his interest in computer software grew in connection with topics within mechanics and data processing and he went on to pursue research work in computer science and technology.

His a member of System Software and Software Engineering group at Tsinghua University.

His knowledge and experience in engineering mechanics such as inverse problem theory, numerical methods, optimization algorithms is contributing to his work on software optimization and improvement, software development process and hardware/software co-design process evaluation and improvement.

Xiaoying Bai

Xiaoying Bai is currently an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Tsinghua University. She received the PhD degree in computer science in 2001 from Arizona State University in USA. After that, she joined the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Tsinghua University in 2002 as an assistant professor and was promoted to associated professor in 2005. Her major research area in software engineering, especially model-driven testing and test automation techniques in various software paradigms such as distributed computing, service oriented architecture, and embedded systems. She has lead more than 10 projects funded by National Key Science and Technology Project, National Science Foundation and National High Tech 863 program in China, and international collaboration with IBM and Freescale. She also involved as a key member in a Key Project of Chinese National Programs for Fundamental Research and Development (973 program). She has published over 50 papers in the journals and international conferences like ANSS, COMPSAC, ISADS, SIGSOFT CBSE, ICWS, etc. She is the co-author of a Chinese book on ¡°Service-Oriented Software Engineering¡±. She was the program chair of the first IEEE International Conference on Service Oriented System Engineering. She is now serving or has served as PC member for many software engineering conferences including ICEBE, QSIC, COMPSAC, SEKE, HASE, WISE, etc., and has been a reviewer for some international journals.
